Boneca
A new method to treat cancer

Boneca offers a new form of treatment to patients with recurring head and neck cancer, called boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT). The BNCT treatment is a biologically targeted form of radiation therapy, where the radiation is produced within the malignant cells. The treatment produces a high local radiation dose which is lethal to the tumor cells while preserving the surrounding healthy tissue.
BNCT treatment is minimally invasive and differs significantly from other forms of external radiation therapy as the tumor site needs to be irradiated only once or twice.
BNCT treatments have been given by Boneca and Helsinki University Central Hospital since 2005. The ongoing clinical research is well-known worldwide.
