VTT Ventures only invests in technology invented at VTT. When investing, VTT Ventures’ focus is on the early stages. VTT ventures functions as an active owner and a member of the board of directors. The actual technology transfer commences with IP licensing, while subsequent IP ownership transfers occur in the later stages of financing. VTT Ventures makes follow-on investments, together with its co-investors, in the companies showing the most potential.

Expectations for co-investors

VTT Ventures expects its investor partners to function as lead investors. They should be backed up by a professional network and a proven track record of business, financial, industrial and technological expertise. Due to the lead position, investors should also be prepared for a long-term engagement, possess a cooperative attitude and a suitable investment focus.

Technology areas

VTT is a multidisciplinary research center involved in a wide variety of scientific research. As such, all VTT research areas are viable investment options for VTT Ventures.

VTT ’s current spearhead programs include industrial biomaterials, eEngineering, open smart spaces, printed intelligence and green solutions for water and waste. VTT Ventures has most recently invested in ICT and electronics, software, biotechnology, bioinformatics, opto-eletronics, and printed intelligence.
